Colonial Florist, Annapolis, Maryland

This is Colonial Florist where I worked from 1984-1991 and then again from 1997-1999 when I moved back to Maryland or somewhere around those times. Almost every time I go home to visit I am able to meet my friend Jadene for lunch. It's really nice to be able to go and spend time with her and visit the shop that was so much a part of my life for so very many years.

I can now smell the flowers when I go back to visit the flower shop. One of the hazards of working at a florist is you lose most of your sense of smell after working there for awhile but after you leave the senses quickly go back to working again.

The small window looks into the area by my old designing station. Many a year was spent talking to the ladies out front who took orders and dealt with the charming customers....

Two of the designers working diligently. My friend Sara worked at the third station during my 2nd tenure at the florist.

The first table is the one I used for years both times I worked at Colonial. My friends Wanda & Connie both worked at the second station.

One of the drivers in the delivery area.

Maria who cuts & prepares the flowers when they come in. She had helped Walter Southwick who was there for decades before passing away. We all loved Walt deeply and miss him very much.

Jadene and one of the drivers in the kitchen/staging area/etc.

Jadene who is the solver of all problems great and small at work before we skeedaddled out to lunch.

I've always thought that it would be fun to own and manage a florist shop. Thanks for the tour.
