We spent today digging in the backyard preparing the soil for planting. Red Georgia clay is soooo much fun to dig in too....NOT!!

Doug and Michael rake the grass

I'm using the stones and edgers to hold the new soil and compost in place.

I transferred this azalea (which has a fragrant salmon flower) from it's spot in the garden where it has done absolutely nothing over the last 4 years. It's smaller than it was when I first planted it so I figured the worst that could happen is it croaks...but hopefully not.

we'll see if this variegated hydrangea makes it. Wilbur has eaten all of the others I have planted in the backyard.

Painting the Bathroom

Ignore the shot of me and the roses and that green in the background was the color the walls were.

I've been working on painting my bathroom too. Changed the color from the dark green, almost black sponge paint to a pretty sky blue. I am now an enormous fan of Kilz casual color paint. Instead of the 2 coats of primer + 2-3 coats of color, I was able to use 2 coats of Kilz casual color and I was done!!

The blue really lightens and brightens up the room...I just love it!!!
So I haven't really fallen off the face of the earth, I've just been all kinds of busy. Here's one of the socks I've finished knitting out of the Tofutsies yarn. Kinda weird pattern isn't it??? But I do like it!!

I'm working on a new quilt. The original design is from Jennifer Sampou and called Summer Bloom. I'm modifying the pattern and using different fabrics than she did.

The original finishes at 45 x 45 and I've added an extra row to the top and bottom.

This is the tentative layout so far without the triangles that go all around it.
I'm planning to add borders to it to enlarge it also.
