Purse Making

Katie is visiting this week and today we made Lazy Girl Purses. Katie picked the pink and black polka dots from Laura Lee Designs. This was the first time I ever sewed a zipper but Katie did all the other sewing on her purse. Pink dingle ball ribbon was her strap of choice. The back has a large pocket for storing a cell phone or other odds and ends.

I chose the novelty fabric and a striped pattern for the outside pocket. My strap is a pink and white polka dot.

Updates

Questions have been raised about how long Wilbur & Charlotte were in time out...it wasn't long...long enough for me to blog and then I let them back out. They were very quiet and patiently waited, probably because I was still in the room with them.

Here is the finished purse for Jolene!! The handle is made from ribbon and watercolor threads that were used in the purse and then braided.

Crazy Quilting

Wonderful news!! I finally finished the MaryLou Wiedman blocks I have been working on!! Do you think I took pictures of the last ones???

Of course not...what was I thinking?!?!? I was behind on them so in the hurry I neglected to take pics of them....oh well things could be worse.

BettyAnn gave me a piece of the most wonderful sequined ribbon stuff...thought I was in heaven...isn't it wonderful?!?!?

On the other hand, it has finally freed me up to work on some of the other projects I have been working on (or not working lately). One of these projects is the amulet bag for Jolene.

Actually I've found I was further along in the embroidery process than I had thought so wanting to leave enough room for buttons and beading, I have gotten this far with the embroidery stitches alone:

My Judy Twitty Class Project

So far here is my progress on my Judy Twitty project:

It is going to be an amulet bag for friend Jolene Eakle (Jolene is making me a 'gotta have it' bag).

The class was way lots o fun!! Mostly because of taking it with my friends!!

Jadene's Amulet and close-ups of Dallas' Purse

These are pictures of the crazy purse amulet that I've made for my friend Jadene's birthday. Of course it is late (not an unusual event unfortunately) but I'm hoping she will be happy with it. Actually Jadene is a longtime friend and I worked for her parents in their flower shop 'Colonial Florist' in Annapolis, Maryland on and off for about 10 years. She's one of a very few people I keep in touch with and I am delighted to call her my friend. She's also one of the few people who never seem to change in their looks, weight or pleasant demeanor and I know her!! Happy Birthday late Jadene!!

I've included these close-ups of Dallas' Purse. I'll be sending it to her soon and wanted a couple more pictures to have.
