Who is that monkey in the tree?!?!?! My sweet and precious niece Kylie!!

Oh no a witch with scary eyes!! It must be Vegas in disguise!!!

My First Ribbon!!!

It was wonderful to receive my very 1st ribbon!!! I received 2nd place for Dallas' Purse while Margaret Hunt took 1st place with her 'Sea Dreams' purse. I'll have to wait for another month while it hangs in the Aiken Quilt Show before I can get a picture of it. Somehow I managed not to get a picture of them while they hung at the quilt show...can you believe it?!?!? Another wonderful moment was when I saw 'Lydia's Quilt' hanging for the first time ever. WWOW!!!

PHQ Quilt Show

The Challenge Quilts: Dorothy Wrigley's 'Parody', Rachael Thomas' 'Witch & Vampire', Marie Atkinson's 'Charm & Grace' & her 'Charmin' Grace', Betty Hostetler's 'Tea Time', MaryAnn Thompson's 'Charming Friends' made from signature blocks some members swapped this summer. Also included are Barbara McBeath's 'Charm & Grace & Ooh La La', Anne Whitehorn's 'Swimming with Charm & Grace' & Carolyn Breland's 'Charm & Grace 40's Style'.

Kay Lawrence's 'Crazy About Halloween' and Ille Waters' 'Frightfully Delightful Halloween Treats' are part of the Halloween Collection.

Judy Lockhart's 'Summer Collette' is one of several of her blended quilts she had at the quilt show. This one is my personal favorite.

Patty Lennon spent the last 2 1/2 years working on her 'Dear Jane, Don't Complain'. It is pieced and appliqued and this past summer she took it with her as she and her husband camped across the United States and Canada, telling the story of Dear Jane Stickle as she sat by the campfires.

Ille Water's 'Poison Ivy' story quilt. She calls it her Ricky Tims' "Caveman" meets Cindy Walters' "Snippets" meets Kristi Steiner's "Heart to Hand".

Other quilts in the show which were every bit as beautiful were Kay Lawrences 'Quilt for a Chosen Sister' a beautiful appliqued piece.

Paula Brown's art quilt 'Genesis - The Second Day' was selected for publication in the American Quilting Society's "Quilt Art 2006" calendar. Made of her own hand dyed fabrics along with commercial fabrics. It's a stunning piece.

Gene Comar's 'Stars in the Garden' wasn't large enough for her, so she added the larger border and appliqued in it also!!

Nancy Smith's 'Fans and Stones'. All of Nancy's quilts are hand pieced and quilted. She doesn't even own a sewing machine!

Bonnie Hunter's '1870's 9 Patch'.

Pieceful Hearts Quilters held their 17th quilt show at the Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta, South Carolina on October21st and 22nd.

This is the raffle quilt 'Prairie Flowers' which was raffled off the first day of the quilt show.

We had 8 vendors at this years show and showed the quilts in the largest gymnasium. Runners and walkers got a preview show of the quilts as they exercised.

Margaret Hunt giving the crowd a demonstration of her artsy postcards...
I recognize some of those backs shopping but won't give away their names just in case their husbands may see this...lol..

Patty Lennon was our faithful chairperson of the Silent Auction and is the one with the big smile and waving hand.

Kay Lawrence, our fearless quilt show leader, lifts her coffee cup toasting another successful quilt show, as she man's the Members Table.
Rachael Thomas won 1st place & Judges Choice Award for 'Anarchy' while Margaret Hunt took 2nd place with 'Coral Reef'. 'Coral Reef' is also the quilt shown on the back cover of New England Quilt Museum Batiks de Resistance Show cd.
In the Junior Division, Hannah Mae E. placed 1st for 'My Beach Quilt' and Brett S. placed 2nd for 'Chicken Coop'.

Nancy Smith's 'Celestial Dreams' won the Viewers Choice Ribbon. Ille Waters placed 2nd in Small Bed/Crib Quilts and won Art Council's Choice for her 'Wonky Log Cabin Baby Quilt'.

Bonnie Hunter won Judges Ribbons for Best Piecing for 'Ocean Waves' and Best Machine Quilting for 'Scrappy Double Irish Chain'. Nancy Smith won a Judges Ribbon for Best Hand Quilting for 'Diamond Ring'.

Judy Lockhart took 1st place & Best Applique for her 'Stars in the Garden'. Pat Wooke placed 2nd with her 'October in my Back Yard'.

Betty Hostetler took 1st place in the Charm & Grace Challenge category with 'Tea Time'. Ann Whitehorn placed 2nd with 'Swimming with Charm & Grace'.

The Quilted Heart

I love my purple machine and am delighting in doing the quilting!! Was never able to free motion quilt with an easy or dexterity on my other machine and Jan has been a dream to sew and quilt on!!!

Tried to get a close-up of the quilting and hope you can see the swirls and loops and hearts that I have quilted in the background.
I'm going to take a picture of the background where the quilting will show up!! The darker fabric is the back.

Finished Bird Purse

The bird purse is finished!! I've added fringe to the bottom of the purse and the handle too. It was made from a ribbon yarn and beads strung through the holes in the ribbon. The pieces were blanket stitched together to make the purse body.

Little purses

I've finally sewed the front and back pieces to their respective linings. The gloves fabric was picked for this years Quilt Show Challenge fabric. I had decided to wait till a few years down the road and take all the challenge fabrics and make one big quilt out of all of them. Then I realized I had gotten 2 packages of the challenge fabric and thought it worked perfectly with the fabrics I chose for the the purse.

The back has been lightly beaded...just the few red flowers is all. Double cretan stitch, feathers in variegated threads and french knots along with a closed buttonhole and chain stitches.

I just love the front of this little bag. The birds are one of my favorite fabrics and I have been wanting to do a wallhanging with them. THis way I got to enjoy them sooner since the wall hanging is still in the que! I've stitched, french knotted and beaded the stew out of it. I just love the way it has turned out and I can hardly wait to finish it. I also plan to put beaded fringe on it at the bottom like my friend Margaret has done with hers. The berries in the tree branches were mostly french knots in variegted yellow and orange threads with a few red beads thrown in.
